Specialized hydroelectric generator service

Salient-pole hydrogenerators require know-how that few independent workshops in Mexico hold. We perform field coil rewinding, pole rebuilding, stator VPI rewind, magnetic core repair, brushless excitation diagnosis, and final commissioning under CFE LAPEM W4200-12.

  • Salient-pole rotor rewinding (4 to 80+ poles) including pole rebuilding, field coil reinsulation, dovetail repair
  • Stator winding rewind: form-wound and Roebel bars, multi-turn coils, with VPI vacuum-pressure impregnation
  • Magnetic core repair: ELCID core test (IEC 60034-15) + lamination restoration where needed
  • Pole-to-pole voltage drop test under IEEE 115 to detect inter-turn shorts on field coils
  • Vibration analysis on Kaplan + Francis + Pelton runners under ISO 10816
  • Thrust + guide bearing diagnosis (Kingsbury, Michell) under API 670 standard

Do you rewind salient-pole field coils on hydrogenerators?

Yes. We rebuild and rewind salient-pole field coils on hydroelectric generators from 4 to 80+ poles, including dovetail repair, insulation system replacement (Class F or Class H), VPI impregnation, and final IEEE 115 pole-voltage-drop test for acceptance.

Which OEMs do you service on hydroelectric generators?

TEMISA Power Gen is an independent multi-OEM workshop. We service Voith Siemens Hydro, GE Vernova Hydro, ABB Hydro, Andritz Hydro, Toshiba and Mitsubishi salient-pole hydrogenerators. We are not an authorized representative of any of these manufacturers (except TD Power Systems under formal Service Agreement).

How long does a hydrogenerator major overhaul take?

Typical timeline per generator size: 5-25 MVA → 4 to 6 weeks. 25-100 MVA → 6 to 10 weeks. 100-350 MVA → 8 to 12+ weeks. Field overhaul takes longer due to disassembly logistics. We provide formal schedule on quotation review.
